The kindergarten in Karanac shares the same building as the elementary school, so that the 23 students are always surrounded by their family and friends.

Karanac is a multiethnic village with almost 900 inhabitants.  Due to it’s turbulent past throughout the 20th century and the agricultural & farming challenges that Croatia has faced since joining the EU in 2013, Karanac and it’s entire region are constantly losing population.  Out of the 21 counties that represent the administrative division of Croatia, Karanac belongs to one of the poorest.  The local government has a very limited budget to ensure better facilities and equipment in the local kindergarten and elementary school.

Thanks to the donations and contributions from Grand Circle Foundation, many things have been improved in and around the building.  Ceilings and walls have been repaired and painted along with updating the restroom facilities and electrical systems, allowing for a safer environment.
