The community of Izcuchaca is just a short drive from the center of Chinchero.

Many of its residents are focused on farming and agriculture—but an investment in the future of the 150 children who attend elementary school here can open up a world of new opportunities.

Foundation support for Cruzpata has helped to build both new bathroom facilities and a kitchen and and elevated water tank to supply potable water.

We’ve also purchased new desks and chairs, along with traditional folklore costumes for children, to help preserve their culture by practicing traditional dance and music.

At 11,500 feet above sea level the elevation makes UV radiation exposure very high.  To allow children to safely play in the outdoors, we installed UV Sun Shade Sails in the playground area to protect the children from the sun’s harmful rays.

 

And since going to school shouldn’t always be just about books, we also installed new playground equipment .
