In the community of Santa Catarina Barahona, this school of 113 students had no outside support until Grand Circle Foundation evaluated its needs and established a partnership. The school principal, Sandra Natareno, is extremely grateful, and tells us that the teachers and members of the community are all committed to working with the Foundation and creating a safer, more enriching environment for the children. "I dream of the opportunity to see all of the Foundation's projects finished," she says.
Our first project will be to build lavatories for the students and an office for Sandra, who has no private space to work. We'll also fund a security wall around the perimeter of the school. In the future, we plan to build a store room, renovate the kitchen, and paint the school's interior.
